Pula 2009

As a part of 49th INPC, Joint meeting of Central and Eastern European Stroke Society (CEESS) was held. Current management of stroke in central and east Europe was presented and analysed through presentation of CEESS members. Plenary presentations were held by prof. V. Demarin, MD, PhD and V. Vuković, MD, PhD from Croatia, followed by CEESS member countries' representatives

Furthermore, prof. Nadežda Šternić, MD, PhD from University of Belgrade, was accepted as a new member of CEESS board.

Fourth Congress of Croatian Society for Neurovascular Disorders and Croatian Society for Stroke Prevention was held in Zagreb, Croatia, from July 20-22, 2008.




Odessa 2008

CEESS Regional Teaching Course, held on October 9-11, 2008. in Odessa was organized by CEESS Regional and Odessa State Medical University.

The purpose of this course was to discuss many clinical neurological aspects, to provide up-to-date information and promote international research and clinical collaboration. ...Following the very successful First Educational Course, which was held in Prague, December 3-7, 1997, the Second Educational Course in Zagreb will continue to expand the knowledge and present recent advances in the field of stroke covered by international experts.

Stroke is a major public health problem, ranking as the third leading cause of death in industrialized countries and one of the most common causes of longterm disability. Neurologists and other specialists inolved in stroke care are now being overwhelmed with exciting novel approaches relevant to stroke, including many possibilities for new, scientifically based therapeutic interventions. Stroke is becoming more understandable, and its management extends far beyond rehabilitation and secondary prevention...

As the organizer of the Second Educational Course of the CEESS, I am especially honored that this event will take place in Zagreb, the capital of the republic of Croatia, an old Central European city with 900 years of documented history. Zagreb is known in the world for its rich culture, preserved historical heritage, significant commercial and sporting events and hospitality of its residents...
